Dated 24 January 1757
In ye name of God Amen. I William Rapheld of Tyrel County in the province of North Carolina Planter knowing that it is appointed unto all men once to die and not knowing when or how soon it may be my Last to depart this life do now in the time of my memory but being very sick and weak do order and make this my last will and testament in manner and form as following. First and princippely I give my Sole unto the hands of Allmighty God who gave it me and my body I commit to ye Earth to be decently buryed at the decresion of my Executors hearafter named hopingas well for a joyfull rescerrtion or redemption of both body and sole with the saluation of each thought Jesus Christ the ___ Redeemer of mankind and as touching my temperl Estate where with God hath been pleased bless me with I give bequeath despose of the same in the following maner to wiz.
First - I give and bequeath unto my son Benjamin Rapheld a ridge of land called the wildcat neck to him and his heirs of his body lawfully begoten to my feather bed and covering two basons to dishes to plates and half a duzen of spoons & to poringes and one iron poot to one gun
Item - I give and bequeath unto my son William Rapheld to one feather bed and furniture to two dishes and to basons and to poringers and half a duzen of spoons and one Iron poot and one gun and one cow and calf.
Item - I give and bequeth unto my son Thomas Rapheld my home plantation wher I live on to him and his heirs of his body lawfully begotten for ever and to dishes and to basins & to poringers and six spoons and one iron poot and one gun and to cowes and claves and to plates and onemare and one feather bed
Item - I give and bequeth unto my son Isaac Rapheld one cow and calf and to dishes and to basons and to proingers and six spoons and to plates and one iron poot and the shoe makers tooles but to be used in the house and five head of sheep and ate yearling hafer and one letel trunk
Item - I lend unto my dear beloved wife Ann Rapheld all the remaner part of my Estate duering of her widdohood and at the time of her marrag to be equey devided amongest all my children likewise I nomnate and apint my son Benjamin Rapheld and Ann Rapheld my dear beloved wife sole Executors of this my last will and testement. In witness whereof I have hear unto set my hand and seal this twenteth forth day of Jenuary anno Dm.

This may certifie that John Routon Esqr. and William Rapheld Junr subscribing Evidences to the within Will came in open court and made oath on the Holy Evengelist of allmighty God that they saw William Rapheld signe Seale Publish and pronounce the within writing to containe his Last Will and testemant.
Then appeared William Rapheld and Ann Rapheld Executor & Executrix and qualified selves by taking oath as the law such case directs ordred that Richard Speight Esqr. Secretary have notice hereof that letters Testementary issue accordingly.

Tyrrell County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions
December Session 1757
On motion of Isaac Meekins Esqr. in behalf of Thomas Rayfield orphan of William Rayfield deceased & c. Ordered that the afsd. Isaac Meekings Esqr. take into his care and possession Thomas Rayfield and his estate till a proper provision can be made for the sd. orphan. It is further ordered that Benjamin Rayfield exctr. of the aforsd. deceased William Rayfield divide the estate and pay that part or share so divided in to the hands of Isaac Meekings belonging to the aforsd. Thomas Rayfield orphan as aforsd. Ordered that John Routon Esqr., Abraham Jennet, Jos. Alexander Esqr. and Jos. Hasell or any three of them divide the estate of the aforsd. William Rayfield deceased and make a return of the same to next court.
December Session 1761
On motion of John Pearson atty. for Ann Jennett ordered that the inventory of sundry goods by the sd. Ann proved and declare to be the estate of her former husband William Raphelld &c. Ordered to ly over till next court.
