Original Will
Dated 13 March 1781
In the name of God amen the thirteenth of March one thousand seven hundred and eight one I Joseph Rousham of the State of North Carolina and County of Tirrel planter being very sick and weak but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed once for all men to die do make and apoint this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of almighty god that gave it me and my body I recommend to the earth to be bured in a decent christian bural at the discreation of my executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrecttion I shall receve the same again by the mighty power of god and as touching such wordly estate where with it has pleased god to bless me with in this life I give and dismiss and dispose of the same in the following manner and form
First - I give and bequeath to my well beloved wife Barbary Rousham whome I likewise constitue make and ordain my soul executrix all my moveable estate during her life without controel and after her death to be equaly divided amongst my broathers and sisters children likewise I lend to my well beloved wife all my lands during her life and then to return to my cosen Joseph Rousam son of Edward Rousam and his heir and assigns forever by them to be persest and enjoyed And I do hereby utterly disalowe disanul and revoke all and every other former testements wills legeses bequests and Eexecutors by me in any wise before named willed bequeved ratefying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testement in witness heareof I have here unto set my hand and seal the day and year above written

Personally appeared John Snell and made oath on the Holy Evangelist of
Almighty God that he saw and heard Joseph Rousham above named sign, seal publish, pronounce & declare this writing to
be his last Will & Testament and at the same time he was of sound mind & memory & saw at the same time Joshua Harrison
& Joanna Allcock sign as witnesses thereto & further saith not -
State of North Carolina
Appeared before me this day Edward Rowsham and
Elisabeth Pratt and mad oath on the holey evangeles of allmighty God that on the twenty fifth of February last
Joseph Rowsham was dangrous sick at his own hous and cawled on the afore said Edward Rowsham and Elizabeth
Pratt as evedances to a gift he made to Joseph Rowsham son of Edward Rowsham he the afore said
Joseph Rowsham first desired the goods gaven in his will to be devided amongest his brothers and sisters might be
taken out of his Will and the aforesaid Joseph Rowsham saith I give the hole of them goods to Joseph Rowsham
son of Edward Rowsham and further said I give him all in all sworn before me the 27 day of Apreal 1783

July Session 1783
Exhibited the last will and testament of Joseph Rosham and proved by the oath of John Snell one of the subscribing witnesses and ordered to be recorded as also a noncupative coddicil to the said last will and testament and it is further ordered that Edmond Morris have administration on the estate of the said Joseph Rousham deceased it with the will and coddicil annexed on his giving security in the sum of one hundred and fifty pounds specie which security is accordingly given by John Snell & Joseph Chapman.

Rousham, Joseph, 1786
Execution dated 5 Jan 1786 against the goods & chattels, lands and tenements of Joseph Rousham deceased for 16 pounds, 19 shillings & 7 pence which Jean Blair recovered against Edward Rousham, administrator of J. R., for debt, costs & charges. Backside says levied on a piece of land of Joseph Rousham's over the ? river by John Patrick on 24 Mar 1786 and John Patrick, Elisha Timmons, Isaac Patrick & Joseph Tarkington were the bidders and was struck off to John Patrick at 19 pounds & 5 shillings.
