In the name of God amen: The twentieth day of July 1769 I Holt Snell of the county of Tyrrel and Province of North Carolina planter being very sick and weak in body but of perfict mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in a Christain and decent buriel at the duretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such Worldly Extate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with in this ife I give demise and despose of the same in the following manner and form.

Item - I give and bequeath to my beloved Cozon Joseph Snell one heffer with runs at his fathers.

Item - I give and bequeath unto my well beloved brother Roger Snell whome I likwise constitute make and ordain my soul Executor of this my last Will and Testament all and singular my land messuages with all my moveable Estate dues debts and demands by him freely to be possessed and enjoy and I do hereby utterly disallow revoak and disannul all and every other fromer Testaments Wills Legacies Bequests and Executors by me in any wise before named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this day and year above written. Sighned sealed and publisthed pronounced and declqared by the said Holt Snell as his last Will and Testament in the presence of us the subscribers

November Session 1769

Personally appeared John Snell and on his oath proved the last will and testament of Holt Snell deceased and saith that he was of sound mind and memory & that he saw Thomas Fisher & Mary Phelps sign as witnesses thereunto.

February Session 1777 {There is a 1/2 year gap in the minutes prior to this}

Personally appeared Joseph Alexander and exhibited his account against the estate Holt Snell for maintaining his orphan one year &c.
