In the name of God amen: The 15 day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and five I Samuel Spruill Senr. of Tyrell County in North Carolina being weak in body but in perfect mind and memory thanks be given Almighty God for the same and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all, I give and recommend my soul into the hands of God that give it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a Christian funeral at the discretion of my executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as toouching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give demise and dispose of the same in following manner and form.
Item - I lend to my beloved wife Martha my land with my plantation and all the rest of my estate during her ife or widdowhood.
Item - I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Uri Spruill the land on the west side of the road more or less and one feather bed to him & his heirs forever at their Mothers death I give not before, I give and bequeath to my beloved son Salathiel Spruill my plantation with the land on the east side of the road and one feather bed to him and his heirs forever at their mothers death --- And the rest of my estate I give to be divided Mary Padgitt Richd. Obediah Uri and Salathiel Spruill & I do constitute make and ordain my beloved wife & Salathiel Spruill executors of this my last Will and Testament & I do hereby disanul revoke & disallow all other Testaments confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & the day and year above written.

The above paper proporting to be the last Will and Testament of Saml. Spruill was reputed to a jury of good & lawful men was upon their oaths did say it is a good and lawfull will.

July Session 1805
A paper purporting to be the last will and testament of Samuel Spruill deceased was referred to a jury of good and lawfull men who returned a verdict that the said paper be the lawfull will of the said Samuel Spruill.
Martha Spruill and Salathiel Spruill came into open court and quallified as executors to the last will and testament of Samuel Spruill Senr. deceased.
Martha Spruill returned in court an inventory of the moveable estate of Samuel Spruill deceased.
Ordered that the executors of Samuel Spruill deceased have leave to sell the perishable property of Samuel Spruill aforesaid and make return to next court.

Spruill, Samuel, 1805
Summons and execution in July and October of 1805 indicating that Abihu Spruill brought suit against the estete of Samuel Spruill deceased, lost the suit and had to pay court costs of the estate as well as himself.
