Spruill, Fanny, 1826
At April Term 1826 James A. Spruill was appointed guardian to James Lawrence & Ann Eliza Spruill, minor children of his wife Fanny Spruill deceased and the said James A. Spruill has not appeared to render his account and renew his bond. Summons is dated the 4th Monday in April 1829 is therefore issued on 17 Jun 1829 for James A. Spruill to appear at the next court on the 4th Monday in July to render his account and renew his bond or the court will proceed to appoint another guardian.
Bond dated 28 Jul 1829 in the amount of two thousand pounds appointing James A. Spruill guardian of James Lawrence & Ann Eliza Spruill minor orphans, Jesse Spruill & Uzziah Spruill securities.
Summons dated the fourth Monday in April 1842 and issued 27 Apr 1842 for James A. Spruill & Alexander Dillen to appear at court on the fourth Monday in July next to answer unto Matthew Brickhouse servicing (?) justice of a plea that they render and pay to said Matthew to the use of Mathias Owens and wife Ann Eliza two thousand dollars which they owe and detain damages one thousand dollars.
Appearance bond dated 18 Jul 1842 in the amount of four thousand dollars for Jas. A. Spruill & Alexander Dillen to appear in court to answer the above summons, Saml. Rogers security.
Settlement by Jos. Alexander of the account of James A. Spruill guardian with his ward Ann Eliza Spruill now Ann Eliza Owens. She is owed $934.31 including principal and interest. Negro boy Ned was valued at $200 in the division of her mother's estate and is a credit of $255 including money paid by the other distributees. There is also $229.40 received from William Hathaway deceased with interest from 30 Sep 1835. Vouchers indicate James A. Spruill has expended $1,186.43 and is owed $242.12.
