In the name of God Amen: I Daniel N. Spruill of the County of Tyrrell and State of North Carolina concidering the uncertainty of this life and being in sound mind and memory (but not of body) do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form as follows.

1st - That is to say I give and bequeath to my beloved brother Tully Spruill all the lands that I possess, butted and bounded as follows, begining at the main road at the mouth of the lane running eastwardly a line of marked trees, to the back line between Nathan Spruill & Thos. Blont, thence northwardly and eastward to the main road a pine the corner tree, then the various courses of the road to the first station, Containing fifty three acres more or less which contains all the land which I own ---

2nd - I give and bequeath to my brother Tully my young horse by the name of String ---

3d - I also give and bequeath to my young muse to my beloved mother, to do and dispose of as she thinks proper ---

4th - The conditions upon which I give my lands and horse to my brother Tully is as follows.

        1st - My brother Tully is to pay all my lawful debts.

        2nd - That he is to support my dearly beloved mother during her natural life and

I publish this my last will and testament in the year of our Lord 1837 and the 11 day of July in the presan of these witness

The last will and testament of Daniel N. Spruill was exhibited in open court and proved by the oath of Jno. B. Hathaway, who swore that he was of sound disposing mind & memory at the time of signing
