In the name of God Amen: I Uri Spruill of the County of Tyrrell State of North Carolina being weak in body but sound in mind and memory thanks be to God do make & ordain-this instrument of writing to be my last will and Testament in manner & form following.

lst To wit -It is my will & desire all my just debts be paid out of my estate –

2d- I lend to my daughter Martha Travis wife of Jas. Travis during her natural life the tract of land I bought of Solomon Alexander and also the tract of land I bought of John Dowdy I also lend her two negro girls named Jain and Isabll and at her death I give and bequeath the girl Jain to Nester Ann McKinny I also give and bequeath the girl Isabella to Nancy Travis both daughters of Martha Travis I give and bequeath the two tracts of land I lent my daughter Martha Travis at her death to William C. McKinny.

4th - I lend to my son Little T. Spruill during his natural life the land whereon he now lives known by the name of Clows Island & I also give & bequeath to my son Little T. Spruill ten dollars.

5th - The land which I lent to my son Little T. Spruill I desire to be sold at his death and the money to be equally divided between my three youngest daughters named Nancy Elenor and Angelica Spruill.

6 - After paying all my just debts I give & bequeath all the balance of my land & negroes & perishable property that may be left on hand to my three youngest daughters heretofore mentioned.

I hereby nominate & appoint William J. Beasley my executor to this my last will and testament and at the same time revoking all other wills and testaments by me heretofore made.

Then was this paper writing presented in open court as the last will & testament of Uri Spruill decs,d by William J. Beasly the executor therein named. The lawful execution thereof was duly proved by the oath of John W. Tarkinton & Trimigan Vanhorn the subscribing witness thereto in whose presents the same was executed by the testator whereupon it was considered by the court that the within paper writing was & is in all respects the last will & testament of Uri Spruill and that it be admitted to probate & registered together with this probate.

It appearing to the court that a last will & testament duly exhibited puplished and declared by Uri Spruill decs,d late of Tyrrell County was duly proved and ordered to be admitted to probate at the October term 1865 of the court upon the testimony of John W. Tarkinton and Trimigan Vanhorn the subscribing witnesses thereto & it further appearing to the court that Thomas H. Alexander Clerk of the Court that the said original will thus provided was shortly thereafter lost or destroyed and before the close of the war as declared by the proclamation of the president of the United States Andrew Johnson & a certified copy of said last will and testament certified by the Clerk of the Court Leml. Basnight dated 17th Novr. 1865. is now exhibited to the Court. It is ordered that the said certified copy be recorded & that said registry & copys thereof be as effectual as copy of the original probated & recorded & reconsidered according to the act of the general assembly of North Carolina approved 4th March 1867.
