Tyrrell County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions
August Session 1770
Anna Swinson came into court & relinquished administration to the estate Richard Swinson deceased (her husband) to Mr. Samuel Smithwick and administration is granted to Samuel Smithwick and enters Edwd. Smithwick John Bennett securities in the sum of one hundred pounds.
Samuel Smithwick exhibited an inventory of ye Richard Swinson & proved the same on oath ordered to be filed.
Ordered that Edmd. son Samuel Smithwick for sale of the perishable estate of Richard Swinson deceased as shall be sufficient to pay the debts.
November Session 1770
Edmd. son Samuel Smithwick not signing bond as administrator on the estate of Richard Swinson deceased administration is granted to (his widdow) Ann Swinson she giving security Stevens Lee & John Davis Senr. in the sum of 100 pounds.
On motion of Ann Swinson for an order of sale of the perishable estate of Richard Swinson deceased; ordered granted.
Personally appeared Ann Swinson and qualified by taking the oath of administration appointed by law.
Ann Swinson exhibited an inventory of the estate of Richard Swinson deceased & proved the same on her oath ordered filed.
May Session 1771
Edward Smithwick exhibited an acct. of sales of the estate of Richard Swinson deceased and proved the same on his oath ordered to be filed.
August Session 1771
Joseph Spruill exhibited the account of Ann Swinson which was allowed amount of 2 pound & 6 shillings for finding poison {unreadable} &c.
February Session 1772
Edmd. son Edwd. Smithwick duly prove the acct. of sales of Richd. Swinson deceased.
