Tyrrell County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions
April Session 1822
Administration on the estate of Josiah Sawyer was committed to Benjn. Sikes who entered into bond with approved security ordered that letters of administration issue thereon & that he proceed to sell the perishable estate of the said deceased & account for the same as the law directs.
July Session 1822
Inventory & account sales of the estate of Josiah Sawyer deceased was returned in open court on oath by Benjn. Sikes his administrator to amount of $1464.39 & filed.
October Session 1822
Ordered that Abner Sawyer esqr. Abel Sawyer Robin Sawyer & Joseph White be reapointed commissioners to allot & set off to Hannah Sawyer wife of Josiah Sawyer deceased one years provisions out of the estate of said deceased agreeable to act of assembly in such case made & provided & make report to the next term.
January Session 1823
Report of the jury laying off to Hannah Sawyer wife of Josiah Sawyer deceased her thirds of the land of said deceased was returned to court by W. B. Hodges deputy sheriff & filed.
Report of the years provision of Hannah Sawyer wife of Josiah Sawyer deceased amount $201.50 was returned to court & filed.
October Session 1824
Ordered that Jno. A. Patrick, Joseph White, Henry Jarman, Abner Sawyer and Stephen Sawyer (or any three of them) audite and settle the estate of Dennis Sawyer deceased with the administrator of Josiah Sawyer deceased who was executor of Dennis Sawyer and also to settle the estate of Josiah Sawyer deceased with the administrator and make report to the next term.
Ordered that Robert Linton be appointed guardian to the heirs of Josiah Sawyer.
January Session 1825
An inventory of the notes, judgements and executions belonging to the estate of Josiah Sawyer deceased was returned into open court by Benjamin Sikes.
The audited accounts between Josiah Sawyer deceased and Dennis Sawyer deceased was returned into open court.
The accounts between Benjamin Sikes as administrator of Josiah Sawyer deceased was also returned and entered.
October Session 1828
Robert Linton renewed in open court his guardian bond to Jno., Barbary, Danl., Charlotte, Quincy, & Benj. Sawyer orphans of Josiah Sawyer.
October Session 1831
Ordered that Robert Linton be permitted to renew his guardian bond to the children of Josiah Sawyer with John Sikes & John Saweyer.

Bond dated 1 Apr 1822 in the amount of three thousand dollars appointing Benjamin Sike administrator of the estate of Josiah Sawyer deceased, Abel Sawyer & Joseph White securities.
Laying off of the dower of Hannah Sawyer widow of Josiah Sawyer deceased in the lands of her husband on 12 Dec 1822. Hannah received 1/3 of 50 acres in Frying Pan joining the creek and David Cooper. The jury consisted of Robert Sawyer, Abel Sawyer, Jno. Cooper, Henry Galloway, Stephen Sawyer, Joseph Godfrey, Henry Jarman, James Cooper, Barney White, Robert Spencer & Bartlett Jones, disinterested men of no relation.
