Tarkenton, Joseph W., 1841
Petition at January Term 1843 by Jennett Tarkenton, widow of Joseph W. Tarkenton deceased who departed this life intestate on or about the 6th day of the present month seized and possessed of 100 acres joining Thomas B. Myers & William Wynne. The children & heirs at law of the said Joseph W. Tarkenton are Sally Ann, Frances Ann & Zebulon Tarkenton, infants under the age of 21 who have no guardian. Petitioner prays her dower be allotted and a guardian appointed for the heirs at law. Back of petition says Jos. Alexander appointed guardian.
Petition April Term 1843 by Jennett Tarkenton, widow of Joseph Tarkenton who departed this life intestate on the 31st day of December last and an administration has been granted on the estate. Petitioner prays her years allowance be allotted to her and her family.

Tyrrell County marriage bonds show the marriage of Jos. W. Tarkinton to Jenette Armstrong on 7 Mar 1836, Thos. B. Myers security.
Between Joseph W. Tarkenton being the administrator of Zebulon Tarkenton in 1834, Zebulon Tarkenton being security on the marriage bond of Joseph W. Tarkenton and Joseph namin his son Zebulon it is probable the Joseph is the son of the Zebulon who died in 1834.
