State of North Carolina In the name of God Amen: I Saley Twidy in bade helth but sounde mind
haven deth in vewe I done make my last will and testement. After I am bereded
and my berell expences paide, I baqueth my two bedes to my two grande dauters
Victory Roughton and Muser L. Basnight. I give my chist at
James Sawyers to my grande dauter Nancy Ann, & my chist at
James Basnight to William Riley Roughton my grande son, and my
catle and chattle property to be sold and my money and notes all to be equell
divided betwene my fore grande children William Riley Roughton and
Victory Roughton Sary Frances Roughton and Muser L.
Basnight. I heare make Z. Roughton my exeter my will this Aprill 3

Sinde seald in the present of Saley her X mark Twidy (Seal)
A paper writing purporting to be the last will & testament of Sally
Twiddy deces'd is exhibited for probate in open court by Zach
Roughton executor therein named and the due execution thereof by the said
Sally Twiddy is proved by the oath and examination of Thomas J.
Johnson & Thomas Basnight the subscribing witnesses thereto – It is
therefore considered by the court that the said paper writing, & every part
thereof is the last will & testament of the said Sally Twiddy, &
the same is ordered to be recorded & filed & thereupon the said Zach
Roughton executor duly qualified as such by taking the oath required by law.
