State of North Carolina: Tyrrel County- It being appointed for man to die I commend my soul to God who gave my existence, first after my death I wish to be decently buried at the old burying ground that I have lately bought of Thomas Tarkenton, secondly I want all my honest debts paid. Third- I lend to my beloved wife all the property I possess during her life. After my just debts are paid, fourthly to be used for her support and comfort & her doctors bills & burying expence and her death I bequeath all of said property in the following manner wit: All the land stock one negro womon named Juda to be sold at auction by the executor at six months credit, Fifthly to equally divide the lawful heirs of my body share & share alike- Sixth I also bequeath all the money & notes that I am possessed of in the following manner to wit: To my well beloved during her life & at her death I bequeath the money & notes to Methodist E Piscopal church south. I also ordain and appoint W. W. Walker and Solomon & Solomon Hassell my well beloved friends executors to this my last Will & Testament signed with my own hand & fixed with my own seal this thirty third of June 1848- In the presence of the subscribing witnesses-
