In the name of God Amen: I Allen West being of sound mind
do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament, do resign my body to
the dust & my spirit to God who gave it:
Item -1 - I do give and bequeath to my well beloved wife Patsey the
full use and possession of all of my land together with all of my stock and
chattle property during her natural life and after her death it is my will that
my land shall be equally divided between my two sons W. W. West and
James F. West and if either of them should die without a lawful heir then
the aforesaid land to go to the other it is also my will after the death of my
beloved wife that my stock and house hold and kitchen furniture should be
equally divided between my three daughters it is also my will that my wife
should have power to collect all the dues and debts that is now due to me: Given
under my hand and seal this, (the 9th day of January 1866)
I do further appoint my well beloved wife executrix to this my last will and
testament. Signed Sealed in presence of

State of North Carolina The foregoing paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of
Allen West is exhibited for probate in open court by the widow of said
Allen West the executor therein named & the due execution and the due
execution of the said Allen West is proved by the examinations of
William Reynolds & Austin Perisher the subscribing witness thereto
who have at the request of the testator & in his presents saw him sign &
witness the same and it therefore considered by the court that the said paper
writing and every part thereof is the last will and testament of the said
Allen West and the same is ordered to be registered and filed & the
said executrix aforesaid be qualified as such by taking the oath required by
law.
