S.A. ASHE<\/strong>. \u00a0She was born in this city March 9, 1816, and was the daughter of <strong>William H. HILL<\/strong> and <strong>Eliza K. MARSHALL<\/strong> (the latter being the first white child born in Raleigh). \u00a0She was a kinsman of <strong>Chief Justice MARSHALL.<\/strong> \u00a0William H. HILL was the son of <strong>Hon. William H. HILL<\/strong> and <strong>Eliza ASHE,<\/strong> daughter of <strong>Gen. John ASHE<\/strong>, whose home was at Hilton, near Wilmington. \u00a0November 21, 1837, Miss HILL married her cousin, <strong>Thomas H. ASHE<\/strong>. \u00a0They had one child,<strong> Dr. Alexander S. ASHE,<\/strong> who died in 1866. \u00a0Her husband died in 1859. \u00a0 About 1869 Mrs. ASHE became matron of the Home at Wilmington and remained there until 1875, when she came here. \u00a0She leaves two sisters &#8211; <strong>Miss Lossie HILL<\/strong> and <strong>Mrs. Fannie D.
