Know all men by these presents that we GEORGE
JOHNSON, SALLEY ELLIOT, JOHN WATERS in right of his wife NANCY,
ROBERT WATERS in rite of his wife ELIZABETH, THOMAS ELLIOT, FRANCIS
ELLIOT an CATHARINE CAIN have made ordained, constituted and
appoint, and by these presens do make ordain, constitute and apport
JOHN HARMON our Attorney in fact for us but one half to his use and
the other to our use, to collect two certain Negroes one by the Name
of ALEXANDER and the other by the name of HANNAH,
which is now in the possession of WILLIAM ELLISON SEN'R of Wilkes
County which certain Negroes is coming to us by the Will of our
Grandfather ROGER BISHOP to collect these two certain Negroes as
above mentioned from the said WILLIAM ELLISON and to sue in our
names if necessary and to do every other lawfull act necessary to
affect the premises and whatsoever our said attorney may do, or
cause to be done in these premises we by these presents ratify and
forever confirm as if done by ourselves in Testimony whereof we
hereunto set our hands and affixt our seals this 26th day of Dec'r
1816.

Know all men by these presents that I RACHEL
JOHNSON of Wilkes County and State of North Carolina have bargained,
sold and delivered unto JEFFERY JOHNSON of the County and State
aforesaid two young Negro fellows named MOSES and EDMOND,
MOSES about twenty five years old, EDMOND
about twenty three years of age for and in consideration of Three
hundred dollars to me in hand paid, and for and in consideration of
my maintainance which I have received of JOHN JOHNSON Father of the
said JEFFERY JOHNSON, and I do hereby warrant and will forever
defend the right and title of the aforesaid slaves clear and free
from all manner of lawfull claim or claims of any person or persons
whatsoever in witness my hand and seal this 21st day of August 1816,
in the year of our Lord 1816.
