Know all men by these presents that I JOHN MARTIN of the County of
Surry and State...aforesaid, do by these presents, bargain sell and
convey to HENRY BAUGUSS a Negro girl named GILLEY for
the consideration of five hundred dollars to me in hand paid by the
said HENRY BAUGUSS the receipt whereof I acknowledge and myself
therewith fully satisfied and paid and the said JOHN MARTIN do bind
myself my heirs Executors and administrators jointly severally and
firmly by these presents to warrant and forever defend the Negro
girl to the said HENRY BAUGUSS his heirs and assigns forever free
and clear from all incumbrances and claims whatever, and do further
bind myself by these presents to warrant said Negro girl to be of
the age of Sixteen years, and also to be a sound, sensible girl &c.
In witness whereof I set my hand and seal this 17th day of October
1817.

Know all men by these presents that I WILLIAM
MARTIN of the County of CHATHAM and State of North Carolina that by
these considerations for and in consideration of the sum of four
hundred dollars granted, bargained, sold, and delivered unto JOHN
MARTIN of the County of Surry and State aforesaid, one Negro girl
named GILLEY both her, her increase forever, I the
said WILLIAM MARTIN doth hereby bind himself his heirs and assigns
forever to defend a good and lawful rite and title to the Negro
GILLEY to him the said JOHN MARTIN his heirs and assigns
forever against himself and all the lawfull claims of any other
person or persons whatever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set
my hand and affix my seal this 13th day of Oct'r 1817.

Know all men by these presents that I HENRY
MILLER did on the first day of May 1811, Bargain sell and deliver
unto SARAH HUMPHREYS for and consideration of three hundred thirty
three dollars one third of a dollar which to me in hand at that time
was paid one Negroe girl by the name of SUCKEY, which
said girl I warrant to be sound and healthy at that time and a slave
clear and free from claim or claims whatever, I do warrant said girl
to be good property.
Witness my hand and seal this 4th day of August 1817.
