Dr. J. R. Pearsall

Dr. Jeremiah Robert Pearsall (1861-16 Oct 1891), son of Joseph Dickson Pearsall and Mary Bailey Murphy of Sampson County, NC. Never married. Dr. J. R. Pearsall, who a few months since resigned his position as assistant physician at the Central Hospital in Raleigh, on account of ill health, died at the State Hospital in Morganton last Friday, and was buried in the Presbyterian church yard last Sunday morning. Dr. Pearsall, who was a nephew of Dr. P. I. Murphy, Supt. of the State Hospital, was one of the brightest young physicians in the state, as was evidence by his election to the important position he held in the Raleigh hospital over a dozen or more applicants for the place. Hard work in the line of his profession shattered a constituion naturally delicate, and cut short a career, which gave every promise of brilliancy. The funeral sermon preached by Rev. Dr. Marion was exceedingly beautiful, tender and abounding in comfort to the bereaved relatives and friends of the deceased. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville, NC.
