born in Steinstal, the others are born in
Postorff. Both of these villages are near the
village of Hirschland, which was the parish
center for all the surrounding villages at this
time. The third born child is presumed to be
named Jacob after his sponsoring relative Joh
Jacob Klein. Similarly, the unnamed twins are
presumed to be Adam and Maria Barbara Klein,
based on their baptismal sponsors' names.

Michael is a son of Moritz Klein and marries
Catherine Schufert, daughter of George Schufert,
on 17 June 1750 at Christ Church (Mertz Church)
on Bieber Creek, in Rockland township, Berks
county, Pennsylvania. Their first child,
Christina Magdalena (b 13 Apr 1751), is baptized
there [PA1, p 139, 185]. Mertz Church is probably
the church of Michael's wife and her family,
since neither Michael nor the rest of the Moritz
Klein family appear in the records of Mertz
Church. Michael's
will, dated 1 December 1784, names children
George, Daniel, John, Christina, Medlina, Barbel,
Mary Mateline, Anna Elizabeth, Anna Mary, and
