130. George Henkel BENNICK⁹⁵ was born in 1838 in Lincoln (Catawba) County, North Carolina.⁴⁰ George J. Bennick, born 1838, according to THE GENEALOGY OF PETER HEYL AND HIS DESCENDANTS, married Nancy A. Pentuff, August 20, 1860, as shown in Rutherford County Marriage Bonds. Records of Company I, 50th Regiment, NORTH CAROLINA TROOPS, indicate that George Bennick, Corporal was "Born in Catawba County and was by occupation a farmer prior to enlisting in Rutherford County at age 22, March 17, 1862. Mustered in as Private. Reported absent-sick in May-June, 1862. Returned to duty in July-August, 1862. Promoted to Corporal on September 24, 1862. Reported present in November-December, 1862. No further records."
