Emmanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, New Market, VA.

Rebecca (Fox) Henkel. and great-grandson of the Reverend
Paul Henkel.

Henkel, daughter of Solomon D. Henkel: 1871. Children
of First Marriage: Sallie, Alice, Beatrice, Tilden,
Clinton, Roscoe. Herbert. George, Charles, Laura.

Child of Second Marriage: One son. License: Licensed
1863 by Tennessee Synod, but not ordained. Calls: St.

Other: Treasurer, Tennessee Synod, 1867. After
pastorate at Mt. Moriah. went to New Market, Va., and
read law with Judge George R. Calvert and practiced law
for about twenty years, serving in the Virginia
Legislature. Left the Lutheran Church and became
affiliated with the Disciples of Christ. Organized and
served congregations in that church in Virginia, at
Waynesboro, Basic City, Harrisonburg, Newport News, and
Chatham from 1892-1914.
