His obituary appeared as follows: CONOVER - Wade McRee Munday, 86, of Springs Road, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2006, at Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley. Born Jan. 28, 1920, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Henry Leroy and Ida Victoria Lail Munday. He retired as a supervisor from Conover Glove and was a lifelong member of Mount Zion Lutheran Church where he served on the church council. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, 1st Lt. Reginald A. (Reggie) Munday; five sisters, Violet M. Deal, Ora M. Deal, Zelda M. Cook, Vera M. Bowman and Ava M. Barger; four brothers, Earl E. Munday, Loyd E. Munday, Hubert Munday and Roy M. Munday; four half sisters; and a half brother. Survivors include his wife, Rachel Newton Munday of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Jeannie Little and husband, Mike, of Conover; a son and daughter-in-law, Darrell Munday and wife, Sandy, of New Market, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Steven Munday, Sara M. Smallman, Stefani Munday, Michelle L. Houston, Olivia Little and Joshua Little; and five great-grandchildren. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006, at Mount Zion Lutheran Church. The Rev. Dr. David Seymourll will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be J. D. Scott, Jimmy Scott, Steven Munday, Joshua Little, Tony Martin and Jerry Barger. The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. on Thursday at the church. Memorials may be made to Mount Zion Lutheran Church, 4420 County Home Road, Conover, N.C. 28613 or to Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, N.C. 28658.
