She was buried in St. Peter's Lutheran Church cemetery, north of Conover, Catawba County, NC. Her obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY - Vera Munday Bowman, 90, of Hickory, died Sept. 3, 2005, at Brian Center-East. Born April 13, 1915, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Ida Munday. She was a retired supervisor from Warlong Glove Co. and was a very active member of St. Peters Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kirby Leroy Bowman; a daughter, Delphia Bowman Deal; and a great-granddaughter, Brandie Bowman. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Melvin L. and Pauline Bowman of Hickory; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Alan Beam of Bethlehem and Barbara and John Roock of Bluffton, S.C.; a brother and sister-in-law, Wade and Rachel Munday of Conover; nine grandchildren, Michael Bowman, Tina Bowman and Rick Randle of Hickory, Debbie Deal Garcia of Mount Julia, Tenn., Don R. Payne Jr. of Thomasville, Carla Payne Carpentar of Conover, Angela Velella of Augusta, N.J., Tim Roock of Bordentown, N.J., and Sandra Roock Harman of Concord; and 16 great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005, at St. Peters Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, with the Revs. Paul Burner and Paul Sundbom officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Bowman, Rick Randle, Don Payne, Tim Roock, Dr. William Harman, Donnie Carpentar and John Velella. Kirby Leroy BOWMAN2, son of Lawrence Lafayette BOWMAN and Alice Elizabeth (Ellie) RECTOR, was born on 28 February 1911 in North Carolina. He died on 2 August 1980 at the age of 69 in North Carolina. He was buried in St. Peters Church, Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina.

Melvin Leroy BOWMAN2 was born on 10 June 1931 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 16 July 2008 at the age of 77 in Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. His obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY - Melvin Leroy Bowman, 77, of Hickory, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at his residence. Born June 10, 1931, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Kirby Leroy Bowman and Vera Munday Bowman. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church-Mo. Synod and a member for 43 years of American Legion Post 48 in Hickory. He was also a member of the Homebuilder's Association of Hickory. He was owner and operator of ML Bowman Construction Company and MLB Classics. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Delphia Deal, and his granddaughter, Brandy Elizabeth Bowman. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Poovey Bowman; daughter, Tina D. Bowman of Hickory; son, Michael L. Bowman and wife, Debra, of Newton; granddaughters, Megan Bowman and Erica Bowman; and sisters, Brenda Beam and husband, Alan, of Taylorsville and Barbara Roock and husband, John C., of Bluffton, S.C. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2008, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church-Mo. Synod, with the Rev. Paul D. Birner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends, prior to the service, from noon to 1:45 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church-Mo.
