Mary Cathrine KILLIAN was born on 12 December 1938 in Catawba County, North Carolina. She died on 9 January 2010 at the age of 71 in Conover, Catawba County, North Carolina. She was buried in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Hickory, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: CONOVER - Mary Cathrine Killian Leatherman, 71, homemaker and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, dedicated to family and friends, passed away Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at her residence. Born Dec. 12, 1938, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Arville and Metta Celeste Starnes Killian. Mary was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Conover and attended Calvary Baptist Church in Newton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Paul Starnes, Ray Starnes, D.L. Killian, Bill Killian and Bob Killian; five sisters, Margie Virgilio, Coleen Barnette, Earleen Raine, Ruby Killian and Aileen Eckard; and a grandson, Jason Fender. She is survived by her husband, Ron Leatherman of the home; three sons, Keith Honeycutt and wife, Zena, of Kuwait and Tim Honeycutt and wife, Kim, and Scott Honeycutt and wife, Angie, all of Conover; daughter, Kimberly Sipe and husband, Phillip, of Conover; sister, Jeanie K. Duckworth of Hickory; five grandchildren, Aleisa H. Fincannon, Corey Honeycutt, Amber Honeycutt, Kendall Sipe and Zachary Sipe; and three great-grandchildren, Scott Holland, Jacob Fincannon and Jackson Fincannon. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Newton, with the Rev. Fred Thompson officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Hickory. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Burke Mortuary in Newton.
