4616. Willie Ray "Bill" SIGMON was born on 16 July 1924 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 14 June 2002 at the age of 77 in Catawba Valley Medical Center, Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. He was buried in Bethany United Church of Christ Cemetery, Catawba County, NC. His obituary appeared as follows: Willie Ray “Bill” Sigmon, 77, of 3553 Hwy. 10 East, Claremont, NC died Friday, June 14, 2002 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born July 16, 1924 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late William A. and Estelle Setzer Sigmon. He was a member of Gospel Baptist Church and was retired from Eagle Furniture in Claremont and a former employee of Cut-Rite Furniture. He was an U.S. Army Veteran having served in World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Shook Sigmon, a brother and a sister. Survivors include: a daughter: Gina Beard of Claremont, NC a son & daughter-in-law: William and Amy Sigmon of Claremont, two brothers: James Sigmon of Claremont, NC, Ernest Sigmon of Conover, NC, two grandchildren: Melinda Sigmon of Claremont, Karma Beard of Maiden. The funeral service will be held at 4:30 PM, Monday, June 17, 2002 at Bethany United Church of Christ. The Revs. Mark Nanney and Bob Hoffman will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post #16. The casket will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 16, 2002 from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM at Drum Funeral Home in Claremont.
