James Russell "Dock" SIGMON was born on 3 July 1927 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 31 August 2005 at the age of 78 in Brian Center East, Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. He was buried in Bethany United Church of Christ Cemetery, Catawba County, NC. His obituary appeared as follows: CLAREMONT - James “Dock” Russell Sigmon, 78, of N.C. 10 East, Claremont, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005, at Brian Center-East of Hickory. Born July 3, 1927, in Catawba County, he was a son of the late William Anderson Sigmon and Lena Estelle Setzer Sigmon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Fred, Ernest and Bill Sigmon; and a sister, Lovada Sigmon. He is survived by two nieces, Sherry Whisnant of Denver and Sherrill Beard of Claremont; and two nephews, William Sigmon of Claremont and Fred Sigmon of Conover. The funeral service will be held Friday, Sept. 2, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Burke Mortuary Chapel in Newton, with the Rev. Dwayne Pearson officiating. Burial will follow in Bethany United Church of Christ Cemetery in Claremont. The family will receive friends Friday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at Burke Mortuary in Newton prior to the service.
