His obituary appeared as follows: James Leonard Sigmon, age 76, of Claremont passed away Thursday, June 28, 2012 at his residence. Born August 14, 1935 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Clarence Clifton Sigmon and the late Dorothy Melinda Pope Sigmon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers and a sister. He is survived by: Wife of 54 years: Mary Fox Sigmon of the home; Son: Blake Sigmon and wife Janet of Claremont; 2 Daughters: Lynn Samples of Newton, Paula Riddle and husband David of Stony Point; Brother: Joe Sigmon of Catawba; Sister: Mary Lou Winters of Claremont; 7 Grandchildren, 5 Great-Grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 1, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Claremont with Pastor Eric Hollar officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:45-2:45 p.m. at the church prior to the service. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Catawba Valley.
