Paul HERMAN and Catherine "Caty" SIMMONS were married about 1840. Catherine "Caty" SIMMONS, daughter of Daniel SIMMONS and Sarah [unknown surname] SIMMONS, was born on 11 November 1826 in Lincoln (Catawba County), North Carolina.3,28,77,279,280,281 She died on 16 May 1897 at the age of 70 in Catawba County, North Carolina.281 She was buried in St. Timothy Lutheran Church Cemetery near Conover, Catawba County, NC. Catharine's grave is apparently near the grave of Emma Clarinda Herman Lail (1864-1842), oft reported as daughter of Paul Herman and wife Caty. Carolyn Whitaker reports in 'findagrave.com' that "Catharine Simmons Herman is wife of Paul Herman and mother of Emma Clarinda Herman." Name also spelled Simman.

Caty Herman is named as daughter in Daniel's will, probated Jul 1862. She
was heired "her nescesaries beds house and kitchen furniture and stock valued
at fifty dollars."
