BIOGRAPHY: From "The Heritage of Alexander County, North Carolina": "Avery and Dorcas lived in a small house on property that Clarence Price now resides which is located on Price Road. the Price's were Lutheran by faith and attended St. Luke's and Friendship Lutheran churches in Alexander County...Avery was a farmer by trade until he died at the age of 66. He also was a banjo picker but was better known for his violin playing. He and his brothers had a band that played for all the local social functions and barn dances. This band consisted of all different kinds of musical instruments that his brothers played." From Desilu Price.
"The second Reese school began in 1886. A committee consisting of Fields Ingram, Pink McAlpine and Wilson Herman obtained a deed for one-half acre of land. The deed was made to Reese School by W. Avery Price to District No. 23, on January 6, 1885. The land was to go back to W.A. Price when it was no longer used for this school. The school was situated north of Clarence Price's home, just across the big creek, on then the old mountain road, and on Clarence Price's Farm. The house was framed, one-room with two windows on the side, was heated with a stove and the front faced South... Other teachers included ...Fuller Price [W. Avery Price's son]. ...The first teacher at Reese School No. 3 was Fuller Price, 1916-1917. Others were ... Dick McLeod [W. Sherrill McLeod's son]..."

"Clarence brought his new bride to his mother and father's home place of 21 years. Desilu's grandfather, John Poole, built the new home place and they moved into it on April 14, 1898. This home was located on Price Road in the Liledoun Community, which is at the foothills of Barretts Mountain in Alexander County. They still reside in this home after 65 years, where a portion of it has been turned into a nursing home so that Desilu can take care of Clarence, who has suffered several strokes in the past few years. The Price's started their dairy farm with only six cows which they have now being [sic] doing for more than 50 years. Their son Glade has taken over the dairy farming and he lives next door to them."
