He was buried in St. Luke's Lutheran Church Cemetery on Houston Mill Road, Catawba County, North Carolina. Survivors include: Mother: Dennie Davis Hefner of Hickory; Sons & Daughters-in-law: Gary & Joyce Hefner of Conover ; Daughters & Son-in-laws: Kathy & Arlie Surrett of Conover Patsy & Johnny Pope of Conover; 9-Grandchildren and 14-Great Grandchildren; Sisters: Jean Coble of Hickory Diane Aaron of Hickory Brenda Gaither of Hickory Linda Troutman of Hickory; Brother: Everette Hefner of Jacksonville, Fla. ; Special friend: Elizabeth Walker of Conover; A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 21, 2007 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. Rev. Jeff Lindsay will officiate and burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2007 at Drum Funeral Home in Conover.
