Melvin Elmore HUFFMAN was born on 5 November 1928 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 8 March 2010 at the age of 81 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He was buried in St. Peter's Lutheran Church cemetery, north of Conover, Catawba County, NC. His obituary appeared as follows: CONOVER - Melvin Elmore Huffman, 81, of Conover, passed away March 8, 2010. Melvin was born Nov. 5, 1928, in Catawba County to the late Harry M. and Celia Eckard Huffman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Keith Huffman. He was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from Hickory Chair Co. Surviving are his wife, Louise Killian Huffman of Hickory; sons, Mark Huffman of Nebo and Todd Huffman and wife, Alisa, of Conover; granddaughters, Kimmy and Shelbie of Conover; and grandsons, Cody and Micol of Conover. The funeral service will be held Thursday, March 11, 2010, at 4 p.m. at St. Stephens Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, with the Revs. David Guelzow and Dave Ziehr officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, March 10, at Hickory Funeral Home.
