Dale Henry DRUM was born on 4 July 1920 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 22 December 2011 at the age of 91 in Lutheran Home East, Hickory, North Carolina. He was buried in St. Stephen's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hickory, NC. His obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY - Dale Henry Drum, 91, passed away Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at Lutheran Home, East, after a period of declining heath. Dale was born July 4, 1920, in Catawba County, to the late Henry L. and Edith Reitzel Drum. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Wilson Drum; two sons, Gary Dale Drum and Mark Wilson Drum; and three brothers, Bryce, Harry and Fred Drum. He was a lifelong member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, and was very active in the church. He retired from Hickory Business Furniture Co., and was a veteran of WWII who served in the U.S. Army. Surviving are his daughters, Sallie Hollar and husband, Gene, of Hickory and Cathy Drum of Claremont; his son, Charles "Chuck" Drum and wife, Susanne, of Conover; granddaught-ers, Kathryn "Katie" Lockee and Kinsley Drum; grandsons, Steven Hollar, Craig Hollar, Mike Reynolds, Jason Reynolds and Darin Drum; great-grand-daughters, Brianne Lockee, Sydney Hollar and Bethany Hollar; great-grandsons, Bryson Lockee and Chance Reynolds; sisters, Helen Sigmon of Conover, Frances Gilbert of Hickory, Margie Gilbert of Indianapolis, Ind., and Carolyn Combs and husband, Bill, of Virginia Beach, Va.; brother, Dave Drum and wife, Chris, of Williams, Ore.; and a sister-in-law, Hazel Drum of Conover. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011, at 10 a.m., at St. Stephens Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, with the Revs. David Guelzow and David Ziehr officiating. The family will receive friends in the narthex of the church following the service on Saturday, Dec. 24. Memorials may be made to St. Stephens Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, 2304 Springs Rd. Born May 8, 1919 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late David Lee and Charlie Geneva Goodson Drum. She was retired from Clyde Fabrics where she was a winder. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Elbert Tallent, an infant son, three brothers Bill Drum, Clarence Drum and John Drum, and four sisters, Cordie Wilkinson, Lettie Drum, Gertie Dellinger and Antha Keener. Survivors include: Son: William “Billy” Dean Huffman, Jr. of Newton, Sisters-in-law: Louise Drum of Lincolnton, Barbara Tallent of Maiden; Numerous Nieces and Nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 7, 2004 in the Drum Funeral Home Chapel in Conover. Rev. Dan Martin will officiate and burial will follow in Maiden City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. on Sunday at Drum Funeral Home.
