126. Catharine Elizabeth KAYLOR was born on 19 January 1841 in Lincoln (Catawba County), North Carolina.373,407,408,409,410,411,412 She died on 31 January 1917 at the age of 76 in Catawba County, North Carolina.407,413 She was buried in St. Stephen's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hickory, NC.407

Catharine Elizabeth KAYLOR and David Johnson DRUM were married before 1867. David Johnson DRUM409,414, son of Peter M. DRUM and Catherine Elizabeth HEFNER, was born on 8 July 1844 in Catawba County, North Carolina.272,391,413,415,416 He was baptized on 26 July 1844 in St. Peter's Lutheran Church cemetery, north of Conover, Catawba County, NC.417 His record in the War Between the States is as follows:66 DRUM, DAVID J., Private, Company C, 28nd Regiment, NC Troops - Born in Catawba County where he resided as a farmer prior to enlisting in Catawba County on August 13, 1861 Wounded in the finger at the Battle of Second Manassas, Virginia, on or about August 27, 1862. Returned to duty prior to November 1, 1862. Wounded at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, July 1-3, 1863. Returned to duty on an unspecified date. Wounded in the right leg at Reams' Station, Virginia, August 25, 1864. Right leg amputated. Retired from service on February, 3, 1865, by reason of disability. Retirement papers give his age as 21. In 1870 he was a farmer in Cline's Township, Catawba County, North Carolina.408 In 1880 David was a farmer in Cline's Township, Catawba County, North Carolina.409 He died on 21 June 1921 at the age of 76 in Catawba County, North Carolina.407,413 He was buried in St. Stephen's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hickory, NC.407

Company C, 28th Regiment NC Troops-

"This company, known as the "South Fork Farmers" was raised inCatawba County and enlisted at Newton, NC. It was mustered into serviceon 13 August 1861 and assigned to the regiment of Company C. Afterjoining the regiment the company functioned as a part of the regiment,and its history for the war period is reported as a part of theregimental history.

"The information containing in the following roster of the companywas compiled principally from Company muster rolls for 13 August -December 1861; March 1862-April 1863; and September 1864-February 1865.No company muster rolls were found for January-February 1862; May1863-August 1864; or for the period after February 1865. Valuableinformation was obtained also from primary records such as the Roll ofHonor, medical records, prisoner of war records, discharge certificate,and pension applications, and from secondary sources as postwar rosterand histories, cemetery records and records of the United Daughters ofthe Confederacy."

Drum, David J. Private. He was born in Catawba County, NC where heresided as a farmer prior to enlisting in Catawba County, NC on 13 August1861. He was wounded in the finger at the Battle of Second Manassas, VAon or about 27 August 1862. He was released to duty prior to 1 November1862 and wounded at Gettysburg, PA 1-3 July 1863 and returned to duty onan unspecified date.
