Mary Ellen HERMAN was born on 3 March 1920 in Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina.^{1770,2065,2309} She was buried in October 1984 in St. Stephen's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hickory, NC.²⁰⁶⁵ She died on 16 October 1984 at the age of 64 in Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina.^{1770,2065,2309} Nancy worked for Hickory Dye & Winding for nearly twenty years, beginning soon after her graduation, until her health forced her to retire. Mary had a great love of gardening which she learned from her mother.
