David Julius HERMAN¹³¹⁴ was born on 24 August 1875 in Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina.^{76,78,473,549,1315,1316,1317,1318,1319} In 1910 he was a farmer in Hickory Tavern Twp., Catawba County, North Carolina.¹³¹⁹ He died on 6 May 1926 at the age of 50 in Catawba County, North Carolina.^1317,1320 David was buried in St. Stephen's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hickory, NC.¹³¹⁷ David bought a part of the Hiram Herman farm on Lyles Creek, (A part of the William Herman Land), east of Hickory, now south of the Crestmont development. He lived there for many years and farmed. His family grew and they and they needed a larger house. His father in law gave them a tract of land on the Springs Road where he built a large house. It was on the spot where the St. Stephen's Fire Department now stands. He still went back to the old Herman place to till the soil. He farmed there until his health failed. He died and left young children to be raised by their mother, with the help of the older children.
The Hiram and David Herman farm is now owned by David's children and grandchildren. Three grandsons now live on the place with Pascal Herman owning the major portion of it. They had 13 children.
