Danny Ray HOKE was born on 21 September 1946 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 30 October 2011 at the age of 65 in Catawba County, North Carolina. His obituary appeared as follows: CLAREMONT Danny Ray Hoke, 65, of Claremont, passed away Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011, at his daughter's residence. Born Sept. 21, 1946, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Raymond Marion and Floy Pauline Herman Hoke. He served in the U.S. Army for two years in Germany. Danny was an avid race fan and mechanic who loved working on race cars. Danny was employed at Everett Chevrolet until his illness. He was a loving father and grandfather, and his pride and joy were his two grandchildren. Survivors include his daughter, Alisha Shannon and husband, Michael, of Conover; sisters, Lynda Hoke Holler and husband, Hoy, of Murrells Inlet, S.C., Libby Hoke Pitts and husband, Luther, of Charlotte and twin sister, Dianna Hoke Mantak and husband, Jay, of Conover; grandchildren, Dax Grayson Shannon of Conover and Kylie Renae Shannon of Conover; former wife and good friend, Peggy Laughridge of Conover; and three nephews and three nieces. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at Woodlawn Baptist Church. The Revs. Dr. Ed Yount and Jeff Moore will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church, prior to the service.
