5147	i.	Grace Geraldine DEAL was born on 26 October 1923 in Catawba County, North Carolina. She died on 20 August 2005 at the age of 81 in at her home in Hickory, North Carolina. She was buried in St. Mark's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Claremont, Catawba County, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY - Grace Geraldine Deal Lail, 81, of Hickory, died Aug. 20, 2005, at her residence after a period of declining health. Born Oct. 26, 1923, in Catawba County, she was a daughter of the late Edward C. and Minnie Houston Deal. A member of St. Lukes Lutheran Church, she retired as a supervisor with Hickory Chair Co. after 33 years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Wade Lail, who died Dec. 13, 2001; a daughter, Rita Lail; two stepsons, Jimmy and Wayne Lail; and two brothers. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Emma Jean and Ronnie Stamey of Hildebran, Linda and Jerry Shook of Hickory and Janice and Dean Knight of Conover; two sons and daughters-in-law, Billy Mac and Brenda Lail and Roger Dale and Suzy Lail, all of Hickory; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Helms of Hickory; and a brother, Cletus Foy Deal of Hickory. The funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Jeff Lindsay at 4 p.m. today, Monday, at St. Lukes Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Randy Stamey, Keith Stamey, Shane Stamey, Mark Hibbitts, Patrick Carpenter and Donald Gray. The family will be at the church from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. today. Memorials may be made to Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, N.C. 28658, or St. Lukes Lutheran Church, 3916 Springs Road, Conover, N.C. 28613.
