5149. Foy Cletus DEAL was born on 1 September 1928 in Burke County, North Carolina. He died on 13 August 2012 at the age of 83 in Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. He was buried in St. Luke's Lutheran Church Cemetery on Houston Mill Road, Catawba County, North Carolina. His obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY Foy Cletus Deal, 83, passed away Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, at his residence. Foy was born Sept. 1, 1928, in Burke County, to the late Edward Cletus and Minnie Houston Deal. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Dellinger; two brothers, Ray Deal and Earl Deal; a sister, Grace Lail; and two grandsons. He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, a carpenter and retired form Hickory Mfg. Surviving are his wife, Berlie Kanipe Deal, of the home; daughters, Ethel "Kay" Bumgarner and husband, John C., of Hickory and Carolyn Deal, of Hickory; sons, Tom Bumgarner, of Hickory and C. B. Bumgarner and wife, Kathy, of Hickory; sister, Betty Helms and husband, Bob, of Hickory; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grand-children; and three great-great-great-grand-children. Services will be held Friday, Aug. 17, at 3 p.m., at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Jeff Lindsay officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Building Fund, 3916 Springs Rd., Conover, NC 28613.
