2670. Darold Eugene PROPST was born on 8 October 1933 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 18 October 2012 at the age of 79 in Brian Center, Viewmont, Catawba County, North Carolina. He was buried in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Hickory, North Carolina. His obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY Darold Eugene Propst, 79, of Hickory, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at Brian Center, Viewmont. Born Oct. 8, 1933 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Carl Eugene and Espie Pecola Propst. Darold was a member of Millers Lutheran Church and retired from Hickory Chair Co. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Wade Propst, Guy Propst and Glenn Propst; and sisters, Catherine Propst and Helen Huffman. Mr. Propst is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley Ollis Propst, of the home; son, Rocky Propst, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; daughter, Tina Smith, of Hickory; grandchildren, Mandy Propst, Megan Smith and Zachary Propst; great-grandchildren, Hunter McGuire and Bryce McGuire; and sister, Lorene "Porky" Hefner, of Conover. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, in the chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory, with the Rev. Marcus Ollis officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
