90. George S. [Harmon] HERMAN was born on 8 August 1816 in Lincoln County, North Carolina.^{3,57,270,271,272} gravestone inscription: 64y 9m 8d His record in the War Between the States is as follows:²⁷³ HERMAN, GEORGE, Private, Company C, 4th Regiment N.C. Senior Reserves. Born on August 7, 1816, in the part of Lincoln County that later became Catawba County. Was by occupation a farmer prior to enlisting at Newton at age 47, June 2, 1864, for the war. No further records. He died on 15 May 1881 at the age of 64 in Cline's Township, Catawba County, North Carolina.^270,274 He was buried in St. John's Lutheran Church (MO Synod) Cemetery, Conover, Catawba County, NC.

George S. [Harmon] HERMAN and Lydia BOWMAN were married before 1841. Lydia BOWMAN^2,275, daughter of David [Bauman] BOWMAN and Elizabeth SIMMONS, was born on 18 June 1820 in North Carolina.^{57,270,271,272} She died on 10 April 1889 at the age of 68 in Catawba County, North Carolina.²⁷⁰ She was buried in St. John's Lutheran Church (MO Synod) Cemetery, Conover, Catawba County, NC.
