Vada Mae SETZER and Roma Max HEWINS were married on 12 February 1989 in Catawba County, North Carolina. Roma Max HEWINS, son of John Augustus HEWINS and Blanche WILLIAMS, was born on 15 December 1917 in Concord, Tennessee. He died on 7 August 2005 at the age of 87 in Brian Center East, Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. He was buried in Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery, Claremont, NC. His obituary appeared as follows: CLAREMONT - Roma Max Hewins, 87, of Brian Center - East, formerly of Balls Creek Road, Claremont, died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2005. Born Dec. 15, 1917, in Concord, Tenn., he was the son of the late John Augustus and Blanche Williams Hewins. He was an active member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, where he was a former member of the church choir and a Sunday school teacher. He retired as a flour miller and participated in the restoration of Murray’s Mill. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the African campaign of World War II under Gen.George C. Patton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Elliott Hewins; his second wife, Vada Edwards Hewins; and a brother, Glenn Hewins. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Hewins and James Watson of Burlington; two sons and a daughter-in-law, John and Jo Anne Hewins of Conover and James Hewins of Stanley; two stepsons and daughters-in-law, Shayle and Kay Edwards and Mike and Talitha Edwards of Claremont; and two grandchildren, Jeff Hewins and Jessie Hewins of Conover. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005, at Shiloh United Methodist Church in Claremont. The Revs. Ron Lytle and Dean Kelly will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with military rites conducted by members of Newton American Legion Post 16. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at Shiloh United Methodist Church, prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Rev.
