His obituary appeared as follows: CLAREMONT - Don Ruben Setzer, 87, of Claremont, passed away Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center in Mooresville. Born Dec. 8, 1920, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Scott P. Setzer and Carrie Lee Setzer. Mr. Setzer was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of United Missionary Baptist Church in Claremont. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Orin and Ford Setzer, and a sister, Una Beard. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Farmer Setzer of the home; a son, Ryan Setzer and wife, Viki, of Conover; a stepdaughter, Genie McHale and husband, David, of Greensboro; five sisters, Mae Hewitt of Florida, Alice Buff and Christine Devlin of Claremont, Bonnie Cann of Alabama and Josephine Thomas of Newton; and two grandsons, Tristan and Austin Setzer. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, at United Missionary Baptist Church in Claremont, with the Rev. Curtis Hagler officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military graveside honors provided by members of American Legion Post 16. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight, Tuesday, at United Missionary Baptist Church in Claremont. Memorials may be made to United Missionary Baptist Church in Claremont.
