Ruby SIGMON was born on 26 April 1918 in Catawba County, North Carolina. She died on 11 April 2006 at the age of 87 in Genesis Elder Care Center, Mooresville, North Carolina. She was buried in Eastview Cemetery, Newton, Catawba County, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: NEWTON - Ruby Sigmon Travis, 87, formerly of Mount Olive Church Road, Newton, died Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at Genesis Elder Care in Mooresville. Born April 26, 1918, in Catawba County, she was a daughter of the late Emmanuel I. and Lizzie Pearl Setzer Sigmon. She was formerly employed with Bassett and retired from Pemkay. She was a member of Beth Eden Lutheran Church in Newton and a faithful member of the Beck Sunday school class. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Elbert Travis; a daughter, Brenda Mae Travis; three brothers, Carlos Sigmon, Tommy Sigmon and Floyd Sigmon; and two sisters, Nell Whitner and Josephine Moose. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Patsy Jean Christie and husband, Bobby, of Mooresville; two grandchildren, Lisa Millsaps and husband, Brent, of Statesville and Amy Moody and husband, Steve, of Mooresville; three great-grandchildren, Bailey and Madison Moody and Tristan Millsaps; two sisters, Nancy Punch of Maiden and Frances Setzer of Claremont; and a number of nieces and nephews. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2006, at Beth Eden Lutheran Church. The Revs. Jane Mitcham and Harvey Blume will officiate. Burial will follow in Eastview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, Thursday, at Drum Funeral Home in Conover. Memorials may be made to Rocky Mount United Methodist Church, Building Fund, 1739 Perth Road, Mooresville, N.C. 28117, or Beth Eden Lutheran Church, 400 N. Main Ave., Newton, N.C. 28658.
