She died on 9 May 2004 at the age of 78 in Catawba Valley Medical Center, Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. She was buried in Mt. Olive Lutheran Church Cemetery, Newton, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: NEWTON - Josephine SIGMON Moose, 78, of Mount Olive Church Road, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2004, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory. Born Nov. 10, 1925, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Emmanuel and Lizzie SETZER SIGMON. She was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Newton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Floyd, Carlos and Tommy SIGMON, and a sister, Nell Whitener. Survivors include her husband, Charles Moose of the home; a son, Tony and Margaret Garrison of Catawba; two grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Aaron and Lisa Garrison of Ashboro and Ryan and Angela Garrison of Newton; three great-grandsons, Zachary, Adam and Parker Garrison of Newton; three sisters, Ruby Travis of Newton, Frances SETZER of Catawba and Nancy Punch of Maiden; and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 12, at 2 p.m. at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Newton with the Rev. Ralph Abernethy officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight, Tuesday, May 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Burke Mortuary in Newton. Charles Edward MOOSE, son of Charles "Charley" Edgar MOOSE and Flora TRAVIS, was born on 20 December 1925 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 13 June 2007 at the age of 81 in Pallative Care & Hospice of Catawba Valley, Newton, North Carolina. His obituary appeared as follows: NEWTON - Charles Edward Moose, 81, of Newton, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley. Born Dec. 20, 1925, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Charles E. Moose and Flora Travis Moose. Mr. Moose was the owner/operator of Moose's Garage. He was a lifelong member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Newton. In addition to his parents, his wife, Josephine Sigmon Moose, and three brothers, Lloyd, Jack and Albert Moose, preceded him in death. He is survived by a son, Tony Garrison and wife, Margaret, of Catawba; two grandsons, Aaron Garrison and wife, Lisa, of Asheboro, and Ryan Garrison and wife, Angela, of Catawba; three great-grandsons, Zachary, Adam and Parker Garrison; two great-granddaughters, Olivia and Rylee Garrison; a brother, George Moose of Newton; two sisters, Josephine Cansler of Newton and Lorene Yount of Claremont; and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2007, at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Newton, with the Rev. Ralph Abernethy officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:45 p.m. Saturday at the church, prior to the service.
