CLAREMONT - Myrtle SETZER Simmons, 91, formerly of Bethany Church Road, Claremont, died Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at Conover Nursing Center.

Born Sept. 3, 1912, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Miles and Effie Lowrance SETZER.

She retired from Southern Glove Company and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Conover.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank L. Simmons; a son, Donald Simmons; a daughter, Diane Simmons; a sister, Marion Barringer; and five brothers, Glenn, Ralph, Ernest, Patrick and Sam SETZER.

Survivors include a daughter, Martha Raye Barnes of Claremont; a son and two daughters-in-law, Johnny and Elaine Simmons of Claremont and Judy Simmons of Conover; two sisters, Josie SIGMON of Alabama and Martha Frances SETZER of Newton; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and friends of Conover Nursing Center.

The funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 29, 2004, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Conover. The Rev. Justin Kane will officiate and burial will follow in Mount Calvary Lutheran Church Cemetery in Claremont.

The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, May 28, at Drum Funeral Home in Conover.
