Hospitalized at Richmond, Virginia, October 29, 1862, with hemorrhoids. Returned to duty on February 2, 1863. Reported present through October 31, 1863. Captured at Rappahannock Station, Virginia, November 7, 1863. Confined at Point Lookout, Maryland, November 11, 1863. Paroled at Point Lookout on February 24, 1865. Received at Aiken's Landing, James River, Virginia, February 25-28 or March 2-3, 1865, for exchange. Survived the war. He died on 7 August 1873 at the age of 45 in Catawba County, North Carolina. William Henry's wife is buried at Fairgrove Methodist but his grave has not been found. William Henry FLOWERS and Elizabeth CHAPMAN were married on 19 December 1854.
