In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow "Woody" Ed-wards; a daughter, Janice Marie Edwards; brothers, Ed Eades and Newell Eades; sisters, Alice Huffman and Dessie Moose Rowe; and one great-grandson, Brandon Edwards. She is survived by sons, Kenneth Edwards and wife, Nancy, of Catawba, and Paul Ed-wards and wife, Janie, of Claremont; brother, Jim Eades and wife, Ailleen, of Hickory; sisters, Helen Campbell of Catawba, Dorothy Caldwell of Charleston, W.Va., Colleen Gilland of Taylorsville, Lois Ervin Gabriel and husband, Jim, of Catawba, and Katherine Huffman of Catawba; grandchildren, Janice Austin, Ashley Edwards, Corey Edwards, Barry Edwards, Pam Fisher, and Tammy Littlejohn; ten great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grand-children. A service of remembrance will be held at First Baptist Church in Claremont on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Dennis Richards Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Hudson Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Catawba. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Her obituary appeared as follows: Lois Virginia Eades Ervin Gabriel, age 85, of Catawba, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley in Sherrills Ford. Born September 17, 1926, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Ransom Isaac Eades and Bertha Mae Setzer Eades Deal. Lois was a member of Concord United Methodist Church in Catawba and was a former faithful member and servant of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Catawba. She retired from Bassett Furniture where she was a supervisor in the sewing department. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Cyril Ray Ervin; brothers, Newell Eades, James Eads, Edgar Eades; sisters, Dessie Moose Rowe, Alice Huffman, and Mary Edwards. Survivors include her husband, Jim Gabriel of the home; son, Eddie Ervin and wife, Donna of Conover; grandson, Eric Ervin of Conover; great-grandson, Hunter Ervin; stepson, Archie Gabriel and wife, Judy of Sherrills Ford; step-daughter, Brenda Laney and husband, Ned of Maiden; sisters, Kathleen Huffman of Catawba, Helen Campbell of Catawba, Colleen Gilleland of Taylorsville, Dorothy Caldwell of Charleston, WV; sisters-in law, Lena Eades of Catawba, Sue Ervin of Catawba, Allene Eads of Hickory, and Marlyn Ervin of Raleigh. James Cleveland EADES was born on 13 July 1931 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 24 January 2012 at the age of 80 in Pallative Care & Hospice of Catawba Valley, Newton, North Carolina. He was buried in Catawba Memorial Park, Hickory, Catawba County, NC. His obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY James Cleveland "Jim" Eads, 80, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley. He was born July 13, 1931, and was the son of the late Ranson I. Eades and Bertha Setzer Eades Deal. A man of deep faith, Mr. Eads was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church and former member of Augustana Lutheran Church, where he held numerous church offices and was a faithful church worker. He loved the Lord, his church family, and the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod. He also was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. Jim was a well-known barber, having operated Deluxe Barber Shop in Hickory for many years prior to his retirement. His love of singing led him to sing with the Carolina Moonlighters and the Joymakers of West Hickory Senior Center. He was an avid gardener with a green thumb, growing beautiful flowers and summer vegetable gardens that he loved sharing with family and friends. As a community servant, he was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, a Habitat for Humanity volunteer through his church, and an American Red Cross blood donor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Dessie Moose Rowe, Alice Huffman, and Mary Edwards, and brothers, Newell Eades and Edgar Eades. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Allene Warren Eads, and son Joel Eads, of the home; sisters, Kathleen Huffman, Lois Ervin Gabriel, and Helen Campbell, all of Catawba, Colleen Gilleland, of Tayl-orsville, and Dorothy Caldwell, of Charleston, W.V.; sister-in-law, Lena Eades of Catawba; and numerous nieces, nephews, and good neighbors who were special to him. A service of remembrance will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at St. Stephens Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, with the Rev. David Guelzow and David Ziehr officiating. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park. Pallbearers to honor Mr. Eads will be members of the St. Stephens Lutheran Layman's League Men's Club, of which Jim was a member.
