1901. Catherine Louise SETZER⁹⁵² was born on 19 January 1934 in Catawba County, North Carolina. She died on 4 July 2009 at the age of 75 in Frye Regional Medical Center, Hickory, Catawba County, NC. Her obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY - Catherine Setzer Cruse, 75, of Hickory, passed away July 4, 2009, at Frye Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Catherine was born Jan. 19, 1934, in Catawba County to the late James A. and Minnie Herman Setzer. Catherine was a devout Christian and lifelong member of Miller's Lutheran Church, where she served as secretary for 42 years and taught Sunday school for more than 50 years. She loved her garden and spent hours among her flowers. Catherine was very dedicated to her family and lived her life thinking and caring for others. She is survived by her husband, Louis Marshall Cruse of the residence; her daughters, Diane C. Neal and husband, Charles, of Montgomery, Texas, Patricia C. Philyaw and husband, Malcom, of Granite Falls and Darlene C. Weaver and husband, Kevin, of Hickory; a son, Eddie and wife, Carol Cruse, of Maiden; grandchildren, Angela, Matthew, Wesley, Mark, Emily and Jeremy; great-grandchildren, Caden and Haley; six brothers; and four sisters. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at Miller's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Robert Alle officiating. Interment will follow in Miller's Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight, Monday, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Miller's Lutheran Church. Memorials may be made to Miller's Lutheran Church, 2280 12th Ave., NE, Hickory, N.C. 28601.
