Robert (18 March 1866) and his sister, Laura A. Hefner ( Aug 1866) are troubling. The 1870 census of father, Hiram Hefner shows them as as age 3 (Robert) and 1 (Laura). He died on 22 October 1923 at the age of 57 in Catawba County, North Carolina.¹¹⁶⁷ He was buried in St. Stephen's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hickory, NC.

Esley Robert HEFNER and Laura L. RINK were married on 7 December 1887 in Catawba County, North Carolina.¹¹³⁴ Wit: E.S. Hawn H. Bollinger J.D. Huffman, by Rev. J.M. Smith, Min., at F.G. Rink's home. Laura L. RINK, daughter of George Fidas [Rinck] RINK and Elizabeth Jemima BOLLINGER, was born on 1 January 1869 in Catawba County, North Carolina. She died on 12 October 1932 at the age of 63 in Catawba County, North Carolina.³⁸ She was buried in St. Stephen's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hickory, NC.
