4528. Bessie Aileen SETZER was born on 12 March 1914 in Catawba County, North Carolina. She died on 29 February 2004 at the age of 89 in Catawba Valley Medical Center, Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. She was buried in Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery, Claremont, NC. Her obituary appeared as follows: CLAREMONT - Bessie Aileen Hilderbran, 89, of Shiloh Road, passed away Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004, at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born March 12, 1914, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Beulah Lee SETZER and a lifelong member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. She was co-founder of Balls Creek Oil Co. Inc. as well as working in past years in the Gilbert Hosiery Mill and the general store at the present Murrays Mill Historic Site in Catawba. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Ray Hilderbran; a sister, Gladys SETZER; and three brothers, Coyte SETZER, Harold SETZER and Boyce SETZER. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Francis Elmore and husband, David; two sons, Walter Carl Hilderbran and Bobby Ray Hilderbran and wife, Nancy; two sisters, Evelyn Stewart of Catawba and Cleta Hovis of Lincolnton; two brothers, Dean SETZER of Claremont and Billy SETZER of Catawba; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. The funeral service was held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Shiloh United Methodist Church in Claremont with the Rev. Dean Kelly officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends immediately after the service in the fellowship building of Shiloh United Methodist Church and at other times at the home of Frances and David Elmore, 1231 Shiloh Road, Claremont, N.C. 28610.
