He died on 2 November 2008 at the age of 87 in Pallative Care & Hospice of Catawba Valley, Newton, North Carolina. He was buried in Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery, Claremont, NC. His obituary appeared as follows: CLAREMONT - Robert Dean Setzer, 87, of Claremont, passed away Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008, at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley in Newton. Born July 20, 1921, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Walter Tilford and Beulah Lee Setzer. Mr. Setzer retired from Cargo Transport as a truck driver and was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Claremont. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Aileen Hilderbran, Cleta Hovis and Gladys Setzer; and three brothers, Harold and Coyte Setzer and an infant brother. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Frances Sigmon Setzer of the home; a son, the Rev. Ronald Setzer and wife, Brenda, of Monroe; three granddaughters, Tanya Smyre and husband, Jody, Rhonda Robinson and husband, Robbie, and Tammy Milligan and husband, Adam; two grandsons, Brian Setzer and wife, Heather, and Michael Taylor; a sister, Evelyn Stewart and husband, John, of Catawba; a brother, Billy Boyd Setzer and wife, Bobbie Jane, of Catawba; five great-granddaughters, Amber Schronce, Rebekah Smyre, Brooke Robinson, Ashlyn Helms and Sierra Milligan; and three great-grandsons, Christian Schronce, Zachary Smyre and Landon Nalley. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, at Shiloh United Methodist Church in Claremont, with the Rev. Ron Lytle officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, at Shiloh United Methodist Church in Claremont. Memorials may be made to Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, N.C. 28658. Burke Mortuary in Newton is serving the Setzer family. His obituary appeared as follows: Billy Boyd Setzer Sr., 80, of Catawba, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Hospice of Sherrills Ford. Billy was born in Catawba County on February 26, 1932 to the late Walter Tilford and Beaulah Mae Lee Setzer. Billy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he enjoyed fishing and farming in his free time. In addition to his parents, Mr. Setzer was preceded in death by his brothers; Pinkney Boyce Setzer, Harold Setzer, Coyte Setzer, and Dean Setzer, sisters; Aileen Hildebran, Cleta Hovis, and Gladys Setzer. Billy is survived his wife of 57 years Bobbie Jane Eastridge Setzer, sister, Evelyn Setzer Stewart, son; Billy Setzer Jr. of Newton , daughters; Ginger Lynnette Lynch, and husband William of Catawba, and Sherry Huffman Carroll of Catawba, 7 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm at Shiloh United Methodist Church of Catawba. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 2:00pm, at Shiloh United Methodist Church in Catawba with the Reverend Ronald Lytle officiating. Burial will follow in the church Cemetery.
